Our Story

Hi there, I am Mer, the artist and maker behind High Mountain Arts. I have been a creative type for as long as I can remember and have always drawn inspiration from the natural world around me. I grew up on Northern Coast of California where the redwoods meet the ocean. I consider myself very lucky to have developed a close bond with nature and animals from a young age.

When I was fifteen I moved to Washington State. I spent the next ten years in the more urban setting of the Tacoma/Seattle area. I fell deeply in love with the Puget Sound and entire the Pacific Northwest. I spent as much time as possible hiking and exploring all over the state.

In 2017 I decided my life needed a big change and I ended up outside of the little mountain town of Leavenworth, WA. Living in the heart of the Cascades has changed my life in ways I never expected. Experiencing the four seasons, being able to see the stars at night, and breathing mountain air every day has been so good for my soul. And there is an amazing community of artists, musicians, and free spirits chasing their dreams. The move to Leavenworth was exactly the push I needed to start the creative small business I had been dreaming about for years.

High Mountain Arts was officially born the spring of 2019 and I have been deeply immersed in creating and growing my business ever since! I love the freedom working with different mediums and materials has given me to explore new ideas and express myself in many different areas. Whether it is collecting driftwood for a project, drawing pine trees, or simply soaking in inspiration from the mountains and rivers, I try to add a little piece of nature in my work. I put a lot of time and energy into all my work and I hope it brings a little joy and beauty into your life.
